As you know I changed the name of my blogger account. I was thinking of the name change for some time now. And as I mentioned a few posts ago Niel brought me my own domain name. There is nothing up there now but this blog will soon be moved there also. I will notify people by email and if I didn't send you an email I didn't think you would want it or could not find your email address. Sorry:(

Ahh another weekend over. It was a nice one. Crafted, cleaned, did laundry cooked, ran errands, and caught up on some tv shows. We saw Trekkies 2. I had seen Trekkies 1 a few years ago and it was pretty interesting. Our digital camera came back home. Niel and I are pretty happy about that. Digital pictures are so much easier to deal with! We also watched the Oscars. I didn't like the way it was hurried along and it seemed a bit boring. Plus what was all the hoopla bout how controversial Chris Rock would be? It's like the media wanted him to be so they could have scrutinized him the next day about it.

I made my own chicken stock for the first time. I saw an episode of Nigella about it and decided to try it out. Luckily I had bay leaves, carrots and celery at home. I always have peppercorn on stock. I know its pretty inexpensive to buy stock from the supermarket but it was a fun experience and is economical too.

Two people told me they had difficulty commenting on this blog. Please send me an email if you have the same problems and sorry for the inconvenience. I have let blogger know.

Bathtub Junkie tagged me and here are my answers:

* How much space is left on your TIVO? We don't have TiVo. We have something called DVR. It's through our cable provider. We love it! We can tape shows right onto the television set. No more VHS tapes. And we can pause live shows. Hee hee!

* Have you ever bought a DVD of a TV series, and if so, which one? Firefly, Wonderfalls and Sportsnight for Niel. Any others I forgot to mention Niel?

* What was the last TV show you watched before reading this message ?
RAW is WAR!!

* List five shows you won't miss: That is a toughy. Probably any crime show.

* Three peeps to pass this on to Bless Your Heart, Goldeeloxt, and Progodess.,

Yesterday the third snow storm of the season hit NYC and most of the East Coast. And the weather channel says to expect two more storms next week. There is plenty to keep me busy inside but I am getting a little stir crazy. I have a list of outside activities I'd like to do and I guess I will try to do as much as possible of my outside list.

Lisanne wanted to know if anyone had ideas for this week's Friday Forum questions. I suggested food and she like the topic and came up with another list of great questions. Below that is my final old Friday Forum. All future Friday questions will be new. Play along if you like. Have a warm and safe weekend all.

1) Do you enjoy cooking? Why/why not? I love cooking! I enjoy looking for recipes, watching the Food Network, and cooking a variety of foods. How about baking? Baking I am still trying to perfect but I enjoy it as well. Do you do most of the cooking in your household, or does someone else? I do most of the cooking but Niel is really good at it when he does. How often do you go out to eat (or order in) in a typical week? Not enough. I wish we could more. There are loads of places I want to try and go back to but its not always in our budget.

2) Do you have any dishes (or desserts, or beverages, or whatever) that you consider your "specialty"? Pretty much any specialty dish I have is from my mom. And I am happy to say that Niel enjoys her recipes too. I make a good Monte, Pork with Sauerkraut/Cabbage, Chicken and potatoes, Hummus, and the only new dish that Niel really enjoys is Chili Pie. Did you create the recipe yourself, from scratch? No Niel makes food from scratch. I am stick to the recipe type of person, but lately I have been trying to change that.

3) Have you ever taken any cooking classes? I would like to. If not, what types of
cooking class would you most like to take? Cake decorating and any international cooking class. Do you ever watch the Food TV Network? All the freaking time. It's like my church. What are your favorite shows on there? Thirty Minute Meals, and Paula Deen's show.

4) What's something quick and easy that you like to just throw together when you aren't in a cooking mood at all? Grilled Sandwiches. Are there any foods that you've been absolutely dying to try lately? I go through phases of wanting to eat just one thing sometimes. But nothing right now. Do you have any new (and yummy) food discoveries/combinations to share with us? Any new discoveries I post in my "In The Pot" link and then store "My Recipes".

5) What is your favorite kitchen appliance? I would have to say my Kitchen Aid and my food processor. They are very handy. Is your kitchen generally well stocked with equipment? Well let's see I have a fridge, stove top, oven, microwave, Kitchen Aid, toaster, can opener, food processor, blender, George Forman, and a Waffle Maker. Describe your kitchen to us ~ what it looks like, what's on the counters, etc. If you are standing at the door of my kitchen to the left is a fridge with a wine rack on top and a built in cabinet above that (medium light wood). Next to that is my sink with more cabinets above that and a little shelf between them for knick knacks, and next to that is the stove top, and then the oven, garbage can and a heater, to the right of the door, is a little cabinet and on top of the cabinet is a recipe holder with Nigella's Feast on top and next to it is a pretty bottle with Vinegar and peppers in it. A gift to us from my brother's girlfriend. Next to that is a book shelf with recipe books and containers for spices, next to that is a table where the microwave rests and on top is a vase with sunflowers, a wooden tulip a gift from the Squilky's, and underneath is a storage space.

Old
1] Where was the last place that you traveled? We’re talking big trips here, not just regular, everyday outings.] Seattle/Victoria, B.C. was my last big trip. It was so much fun! Niel and I still talk about it. [How did you get there? We took a plane to Seattle and a boat from Seattle to Victoria. How long were you gone? About a week. Three days for Seattle and two days for Victoria. Did you have fun, and did the voyage go smoothly? It was fantastic! The boat ride to Victoria was pretty bumpy but exciting and on the way back our luggage remained in Canada but we eventually got it.

2] When traveling, what snacks/entertainment items do you usually like to take with you? [For example, bottled water, crossword puzzle books, laptops, CD players, etc.] We bring books, magazines, motion sickness medicine, gum and some pain reliever.
3] If you could take a road trip to anywhere, where would you choose and why? We want to take a road trip across country. Maybe in 2006. What would be your ideal road trip vehicle? An RV. Would you plan the trip carefully or just hop in the car and go? We are already planning! Hee Hee!

4] Did you ever play any travel games when you were a kid, such as “the license plate game” or “20 questions"? No. I wasn't familiar with them at the time. If you have children now, how do you keep them from getting bored/antsy during long trips? I would play those games, plus have reading and drawing material.

5] Where is the farthest place that you’ve ever traveled? I guess American when I was five and Armenia when I was ten. Which state would you most like to visit? There are so many. MA, Vegas, Hawaii, go back to California and Florida. Which country? So many also. Great Britain, Australia, Japan, Norway , and go back and visit different parts of Canada. To name a few. Which continent? Europe. What is your preferred mode of transportation? Plane and train (would be neat).

Various thoughts in my head today. Tori Amos was going to be signing her new book yesterday at the Barnes and Noble on Union Square. When I got there the line was closed and the room was packed. Security everywhere and not just her personal team of body guards, but NYC police also. I decided it just was not worth it if I couldn't even see Tori. So I picked up Niel at his office, we got some Jamba Juice (great idea Niel), and headed home where I fell asleep by 9PM.

I've heard sometime now that there are these studies and books saying that girls and boys learn differently in the classroom and altogether (duh). Little boys can't hear as well and their coordination is not as advanced but they are better at math & science. While little girls are better at English. And educators are hoping with these new findings they will be able to help teach children better.

And in some schools across the country teachers are given devices where their voices can be heard by all students and not just the ones in the front of the classroom. Sort of like mics for the classroom. Educators are claiming that the some of the children they thought were just trouble makers or had ADD, just could not hear very well.

Made Birds in a Nest for breakfast this morning. I based it on some recipes I saw on 30 Minute Meals and Paula's Home Cooking. I took some bread (you can use any kind you like), made a hole between the bread, put it in a frying pan with a little bit of butter, toasted it on both sides, and dropped one egg in each bread. While that was cooking I also fried up some bacon (use any kind you like). Then flipped the egg/bread combo on the other side and let that cook till the egg was done on both sides. I melted some cheese on top (use any combo you like) and then served it with the bacon on top. We really enjoyed it.

Niel and I got to see Ray this past Saturday after our errands. As everyone knows by now the film is about the legendary musician Ray Charles. I always thought of him as this talented, cute, little old man. Well I was in for a shocker. I won't give away too much in case anyone has not seen it yet. Jamie Fox was incredible. I thought Sharon Warren who played his mother was phenomenal and was disappointed that she nor Kerry Washington who played his wife were not nominated for Oscars. And I am very happy to see Regina King in so many movies. I remember her from her 227 days. Darn that was a good show. Ray is a moving, powerful, and superbly acted movie. I recommend everyone watch it.

I have so many projects going on right now. It's a bit overwhelming. I have a variety of interests and like to learn a lot of different things. I always have something going on and I don't know how else to be. Friday night I finished making some Easter cards for a few people. I decided to try making cards for fun. They are pretty basic still. And I am still working on Niel scarf. I think I have 20 more inches left and then I'm done. Then I want to start on a quilt for a gift for some friends. I have two baby picture frames still to do for some other friends. I am still scrapbooking for vacations and fun get togethers too. Still studying towards becoming a party planner as another side business and I hope to teach someday. I like working with small children. This was one of my aspirations as a child and it got side tracked. So now I am trying to squeeze in what I can. And a cookbook of some favorite recipes I am finishing up on to mail to another friend. I purchased some beads a while ago to make a necklace and I want to get to that. Plus try soapmaking and candle making. They seem fun. One of my valentine's gifts from Niel was my own web space; so I am working on a personal site, and a work site. It probably won't be as fab as all the other wonderfully designed blogs out there, since I am not a designer by trade. But I'll take a crack at it (of course with tons of help from Niel). I really want a nicer look for all the links I have to the side. Plus it will be more organized. And I will email some people the new address. It will definitely be a while before either is up. Niel and I were throwing around the idea of having a shared website, with Niel having his own corner and me my own. However since Niel got his own web space for a birthday gift, we just have our own web hosts. I also brought some fabric because I thought I would try a Month of Softies. I want to try to make all the previous softies even though I won't be submitting them. I thought it would be fun. Plus I am researching some fun themed foods to prepare for our monthly movie nights. We are thinking more and more about having one. Niel started it a few years ago after his knee surgery and we have a lot of movies in our collection. Now its just a matter of getting interested people. And as usual there are articles and stories swirling around in my head waiting to get out. I also am making two more wreaths. One is a garden themed and the other a goose themed. Hee Hee. I decided to also sell painted pottery. But our little camera has run away from home, so I will be a bit late posting any pictures. We are in the market for a new camera and saw a few that caught our attention. Any pics you will see on this blog in the near future will be from old pics I had or are scanned from a disposable camera. The way I spread out and make time for all these projects is I usually have my craft time on Wednesday night when Niel is playing Xbox. Or Friday evenings after I do my cleaning and Niel is at scouts. And the knitting I do when we watch TV. The quilt I will start on after I finish with the scarf.

I tried a really good recipe last night Chicken and Andouille Gumbo. I couldn't find Andouille so I used Emeril Lagasse's brand of sausages. This is the second time I have tried them and they are so good. See if you can find them on sale otherwise it is a bit pricey. For dessert I made molten chocolate cakes and served it with vanilla ice cream. Yum! I also made coddled eggs for breakfast this morning. I preheated the oven to 400. I got a roasting pan and filled it half way with water. I cracked two eggs, salted and peppered them and placed them in two ramekin dishes and put them in the roasting pan. And let them cook for five minutes in the preheated oven. While the eggs were cooking, I lightly fried some cut bacon and then put them in with the eggs. 15 minutes later I put some Cheddar cheese and turned off the oven. The cheese was pretty melty and the eggs were delicious. I recommend this as well. I plan my meals ahead of time so I am not as harried during the workweek and can try to spend my weekends either relaxing with the hubby or taking care of errands.

Niel and I got to go on a date on Sunday. We originally had planned on going out on Saturday, but got busy with errands and doctor appointments. Got those out of the way on Friday after work and Saturday. On Sunday we went to see The Gates and had lunch at Johnny Rockets. The Gates are pretty and do something different for Central Park. And certainly cheered things up with the dreary weather. They had an Asian feel to it. The flags are all different sizes and I think heights. An optical illusion I think. And the park was packed of course. Niel took a bunch of pictures and we ended our walk at the lake. It was frozen since it was so chilly and pretty neat to see also. Although it was nice to look at and I was impressed by the artists determination to finish the project; I could think of other things the money spent on The Gates could go to. But it's their money and just my opinion. Afterwards we headed to the new mall by Columbus Circle and went to Borders where I purchased (on sale yay) another Irish cookbook. I have a lot of American cook books, but only a few international ones. So I am trying to change that. The Borders there is so big and has a section for crafts.
Afterwards we took the train back into Queens and decided to eat at Johnny Rockets in Forest Hills. (Good choice Niel!) The food is tasty and the atmosphere is fun. There are 5 cent, 50's songs to choose from on their mini jute boxes. And the waitress's do a little dance. I like trying new restaurants and there are so many I want to try, plus old ones I want to go back to. Here are some more pics.

Happy it is Friday. Here is a really good recipe. I made it last night for dinner.

Time for the Friday Forum. A new one and an old one. Only one more old Friday Forum left.

Old

I thought this old Friday Forum was a good one to use since next weekend is the Oscars.

1) As movie award season approaches, do you watch any awards shows (such as the Oscars or the Golden Globes)? Which part of the shows do you enjoy the most: I watch the Oscar's, MTV Music Awards and MTV movie Awards and Grammy's in its entirety.

2) Do you consider yourself a movie insider"? Any guesses as to who will win the Academy Awards this year? Any personal favorites? Yes I am a movie and celebrity buff. I like reading US, People and Instyle. It's fun way to unwind on the bus after work if I don't have something other to read. I think this year will be tough because most of the nominees are so good. I would be happy if anyone wins. I am not rooting for a particular actor, actress or movie.

3) Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King is up for 11 Academy Awards. What do you think about that? (Eleven Oscars also went to Titanic and Ben Hur - did you see those movies?) Have you seen all of the Best Picture-nominated films? Lord of the Rings was fantastic and I hope it does well. I did not see Titanic. I did see Ben Hur. Ben Hur was phenomenal.

4) Which actor/actress, in your opinion, should have earned an Oscar but so far hasn't? Denzel Washington for Malcolm X. Is there an actor/actress who *has* received an Oscar but you feel shouldn't have gotten it or wasn't deserving? Gwenyth Paltrow. I like her an all, but I don't think she should have received an Oscar.

5) If you could create your own movie award and give it to someone, who would it be and in what category? Hah. Don't get me started.

New
1] Has there ever been a moment in your life that you wish could have
LASTED forever? In other words, you would have frozen time at that
very second in order to live that moment for eternity? When did it
happen, and how did you feel? Anytime I am on vacation.

2] Have you ever finished in LAST place, whether during a race, a
contest, a competition, an exam, or something else? How did it make
you feel? When a situation like that occurs, do you usually maintain
a positive attitude or feel like you have completely failed? I don't recall entering any competitions but like anything its a learning process and will make me stronger.

3] Who's the LAST person you talked with on the phone? Customer. E-mailed? Customer.
Received an e-mail from? Customer. Hugged? Niel. Went out to lunch with? Ha ha. What is that? Thought about? The hubby! Made something for? Making a scarf for Niel. Made plans with? Niel. IMed? Nope.

4] When's the LAST time that you did something nice just for
yourself? I guess doing crafting counts? When I can get to it. I am pretty busy with the 9 to 5 job, and with my home. What was it? A scarf for Niel. Even though I am making things for others, I still have a nice time crafting. How do you usually treat/reward yourself? Haven't given it much thought. Do
you take time out of each day to do something for yourself? Not really. Do you
buy yourself a birthday gift or Christmas gift each year? No.

5] What do you think you'll be doing on the LAST day of this month
(February 28)? Working. If you could choose a month and have it LAST forever (in other words, it would be July all the time from now on), which
month would you choose and why? I guess November. It's my anniversary month and usually when we vacation.

I found this quiz on one of the Canadian blogs I wander to.

HASH(0x88c7218)
You're Manitoba. Security and family mean a lot to
you. You dream of the white picket fence and
the rest of the Norman Rockwell fantasy. You're
a little reluctant to rock the boat, which
could drain the colour out of life at times,
but you'd rather have that than not know what
tomorrow brings.

What Canadian Province Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I really thought I would get Ontario, Prince Edward Island, British Columbia or Quebec! Cause I really want to visit there. But Manitoba? I hardly know anything about Manitoba except that wrestler Chris Jericho grew up there. Hee Hee. Interesting evaluation I received.

But I am totally a Canadianholic(is that the correct word?). I love DeGrassi Junior High, The Kids in The Hall, Anne of Green Gables, Mounties, Beaver tales, and all the other neat things about Canada.

My friend Jennifer emailed me these Factoids a while ago. I thought I would share:

Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled
"Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden"...and thus the word GOLF entered into
the English language.

In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When
you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month
after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all
the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar
was lunar based, this period was called the honey month .. which we know
today as the honeymoon.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England,
when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your

It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's"

Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the
rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used
the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired
by this practice.

Happy Valentine's Day All. I know some might feel that Valentine's is a forced holiday. Made up by the greeting card industry. But I say, who cares. What is wrong with a day dedicated to love? Yes love for significant others, children, parents, siblings, and friends should be shown every day of the year. But I think with most people having hectic schedule's, a little time nationally to recognize those special people in our lives is ok with me.

So to my sweetie, Niel thank you for making everyday Valentine's Day for me. I love you!

Goodbye Mr. Miller, you'll be missed. Especially in my home. Niel is a big fan of yours. I remember meeting you in college, and you signed my copy of "Death of A Salesman". I never thought I would be able to meet the man who moved me so with that book or the brought me to tears with "The Crucible". Niel was so happy to be a part of The Evening Reading Series; where renowned writers would come and read at our college. He was especially happy when you agreed to come and read. Thank you for what you brought.

Hello everyone. TGIF! Time for the Friday Forum I only have two more old ones so after a few weeks I will only post new Friday Forum's. Feel free to play along. Have a good weekend.

Old

1. What was the last TV show you watched?
It was last night and Niel and I watched The Apprentice. It was the first time I saw it. It was pretty entertaining.

2. What was the last thing you complained about, and what was the problem?
I plead the fifth on this one. :)

3. Who was the last person you complimented, and what did you say? My coworker on her pretty skirt.

4. What was the last thing you threw away? A tissue.

5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited? My hubby's

New

1. Do you become bored easily? What do you usually do to entertain yourself when you're bored, restless, lonely, etc.? When's the last time that you felt extremely bored or didn't know what you wanted to do? What did you end up doing?
No I don't. I find life very exciting. Even the most mudane things I do to keep me busy. There is something always to be done. I've always feel restless if I don't keep busy. I'm either cooking, cleaning, reading, going online, writing, making lists, crafting, etc. I didn't like staying home that much because I felt like there was too much to see and do but lately with the storm and Niel's back I found ways to keep myself busy.

2. Imagine that you have a cozy, quiet, rainy day all to yourself at home. You *have* to spend the ENTIRE day at home, and you can do whatever you want. What would you choose to do, and why? (Or would you go stir crazy?)When I have days off and Niel has to work I would rather go see a friend, or go see a movie or go to the craft store. But if its a bad storm I would watch TLC a bit while I crafted. Go online for a bit. Then clean. Then start on dinner.

3. Do you enjoy having "me time," or do you prefer to hang out with others? I enjoy doing both. I like seeing our friends and seeing what they are up to and spending time together and other times I like just being with Niel or alone. Why? It depends on how busy we are. How often do you spend time by yourself? About once every six weeks. When Niel is away camping. The days are easier because we don't typically see one another during the day but nights are a bit difficult. Would you typically rather have a quiet evening to yourself or a night out with friends/family? Either way I would be happy. Do you often have the urge to just "go somewhere" for the sake of going somewhere? All the time. I love to travel and see new things!

4. Have you ever gone to a movie theater by yourself? Yes. It's fun. Especially during the day when its not too crowded. How about dining out by yourself? I have. I people watch. Have you ever traveled solo? Yes for a school trip and also to fly out my grandmother. What was it like? It was very freeing. What activities, if any, do you enjoy doing *by yourself* as opposed to with others? Writing. I can concentrate better.

5. Do you usually prefer to accomplish a project by yourself, or would you rather work in a group? Why? I like working alone. Always have. Do you ever have trouble delegating assignments to others, thinking that you'd rather do a task yourself and get it done the way you'd like? If I can I rather do it myself. I find some people have difficulty meeting deadlines.

Recently a coworker and Lisa each forwarded me separate "How Do They Know This Stuff" lists. I enjoy getting factoids like these. And I wanted to share. Monday was even busier than usual at work for me. The day just continued to get wackier. My head ached and I was popping Tylenol. Luckily the temperature was a bit warmer and I could smell spring around the corner. So that brought on some relief. Another plus, I got to watch the sun go down on my way home. The sky was so lovely with purples and blues.

At home I also got to look at another lovely site (besides the hubby heh heh) a painting I brought from Meg. She is one talented gal. Please check out her blog.

I have been missing my relatives lately, especially my grandma and Horak (my dad's sister). They live in California but it may well as be Armenia. Which is where my family is from and where I was born. If you don't already know.

I have been reading on various blogs about people being able to spend time with grandparents and various extended family members and I long for that. I do speak with my grandmother and other relatives frequently, but its not the same.

I don't know if it has to do with a deeper connection to ones ancestral homeland. But outside of my culture and most non too assimilated families, I have not seen that affinity to have frequent get togethers with family.

I miss the days of dinners with my extended family and seeing my cousins. Of hanging out and watching a movie or going to the mall. Of getting underneath feet in the kitchen. I don't know if that will be in my future anytime soon.

Hopefully I'll be able to visit with my parents this weekend. Haven't seen them since the beginning of January. With the storm, Niel's back, my dad's back, and my mom having the flu it's been impossible to visit until now.

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Niel's back is thankfully getting better. It's taking a bit of time to improve, but at least he is able to move around a bit more. I am glad he listened to his chiropractor and did not do any moving this Saturday. He offered to help his mother's younger sisters move from one apartment to another. But his doctor vetoed that.

Niel and I got to eat some "exotic" food this Saturday. Niel enjoys trying out meats that few would consider eating. We've had alligator, frogs legs, ostrich, shark, emu and kangaroo. And Niel has had Biason before. I know Niel's been wanting to try bear for a while now so I did some research and found this Czeck place in Astoria that during hunting season offers game. He got to eat bear, venison and wild board. Probably from the three items, I would say bear was the most exotic. The restaurant is decorated with pictures of various areas of the Czeck republic as well as traditional clothing and items for the home. We were having a bit of fun wondering what his meal would look like. Both of us had tried most of the other menu items (rabbit, duch, pheasant and quail)at other times, so I just ordered something called Bohemian Saurbrauten. I figured for variety we could try each others dishes. I think I might find another place that serves game. The meal was a bit too covered in sauce.

Sunday we attended a special mass for the 25 anniversary of Niel's father's passing. It was at my mother in laws church and it was in Spanish. I really enjoy the music that is played at the Hispanic masses a lot. It is very festive. Afterwards we did some laundry. Because of the storm and Niel's back this was the first weekend we were able to go out and ended up doing 12 loads of laundry literally! Then we came home and watched the superbowl. I was folding and putting away our clean clothes in the bedroom and every now and then I would come into the living room and look at the game. I think games where the score is so close are much more exciting. Plus I enjoyed Sir Paul McCartney's performance. I could watch him any day!

Read my review of The Wedding Date.

Below are fuzzy pictures of our meals from Saturday.

A very Happy Birthday to my grandma. She is my mother's mom and I miss her very much. I wish we lived closer so we could see one another more. I miss seeing her daily and her wacky sense of humor. I heard a story where she chased her younger sister's with a mouse for laughs. I love you Mezma.

Hello everyone time for the Friday Forum. I posted this week's version and an older one. If you like to play along please either post on your blog or in my comments. Have a good weekend.

Old

1) When you write an e-mail, do you usually use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.? Or do you prefer to type a stream of consciousness message and not worry so much about the technical stuff? Do you spellcheck your e-mails?
I sometimes correct it and sometimes do not. Depends how busy I am unfortunately. I do spellcheck though.

2) Do you typically use emoticons/smileys and words like LOL or TTYL in your e-mail messages? What fonts/colors do you normally use, or do you use e-mail stationery? Do you use an e-mail signature? I like to use smiley's and only LOL in personal emails. I use black and white mostly and do not have an email signature.

3) How many e-mail accounts do you have, and how often do you check them? I have a personal e-mail account and one for work and check both frequently. About how many messages do you receive per day, and are you good about keeping up with e-mail correspondence? I get a ton. I return emails right away. Jenn recently brought to my attention that my email is not working properly so if I do not email you back. Leave a comment for me on the blog and I will get back to you.
Would you call yourself an e-mail junkie"? Yes my name is Ani and I am an e-mail junkie.

4) Do you subscribe to any e-mail lists, groups, message boards, forums, etc.? Yes, for the Friday Five and crafters. Why did you decide to join them? Friday Forum is fun and for to get more information for crafts. Have you made lots of close friends through these groups? Beginning to. Do you post regularly? Yes.

5) Who is the most recent person you've e-mailed? It was for work. What was the topic of your message? Work related:) What is the most recent e-mail that you've received? From various mailing lists and friends. What e-mail program do you use? Yahoooooo.

New

1) Do you enjoy furniture shopping? Why/why not? Yes I like looking at home furnishing periodicals and looking at furniture. It is fun for me. Have you made any furniture purchases recently, or do you plan to in the near future? Not recently. We don't have much room. How often do you buy a new piece of furniture, and where do you usually shop? So far our budget is limited so it's been Ikea or Target or any sale. Eventually when we have a larger home we will need various other odds and ends.

2) How would you describe the style of furniture in your home right now? That's a good question cause my husband and I were discussing this. Honestly we get what we like. His taste is a bit more modern while mine I guess would be country/rustic. Do you have matching sets, or is your style more "ecletic" or mix-and-match? We do have matching sets. What type of wood/finish do you typically prefer (oak, pine, natural, maple, mahogany, etc.)? I like more dark woods while Niel likes lighter woods. But like I said if something cacthes our eye we would buy it.

3) What was your bedroom furniture like when you were a child? I had a twin bed. And light furniture. Do you still use any of it in your home? It is in my parents home. What's the oldest piece of furniture that you own? Right now it would be my husband's green drawer.

4) Have you ever refinished a piece of furniture? Painted it? Sanded and stained it? Have you ever tried making a piece of furniture by hand? I have always wanted to try and hopefully when we have our own home I can get can do that. Right now we rent or as I like to call it "pay someone else's bills" and we can't really paint or any of that fun DIY stuff. :(

5) If we looked right now, what would we most likely find on your living room coffee table? Candles, coasters and napkins. What about on the nightstand in your bedroom? Pictures, and a coin jar.

Lately I have come into the habit of watching Whose Line Is It Anyway? It has become my favorite show. Even though it is only reruns. I used to watch it frequently but had forgotten about it. Then one evening when I was too restless to sleep I began to channel surf and stumbled upon it again. That show makes me laugh hard. With Drew Carey's dirty jokes, Ryan Styles and Colin Mochrie's chemistry and Wayne Brady's ability to sing in any style. Niel says the British version(the one that this is based on) is very funny as well and also had Colin and Ryan on. I think watching it is a nice way to unwind after a long day.

Niel checked and we have 1,419 songs on our computer and that translates into 3.5 days of music. Heh.

I got a second article published. I am pretty psyched. And Niel is doing well with getting his articles published too. Read all four here. Just type in Niel and click on reviewer.

Things are also getting a bit better at work for him. I hope they stay that way. One of his ideas might be made into a book.

We saw a really neat documentary on PBS this past weekend. "Do You Speak American". I hope they show it again because we only caught part of it. The movie had some interesting facts about how different parts of the country have their own slang and depending where the original settlers are from they incorporate a mixture of English with other languages. I recommend it highly.

I have to say that L.L. Cool J is the nicest guest judge on American Idol. He was so sweet to all the contestants! It was really refreshing to watch the show last night.

My nice coworker and friend Elaine brought me some whole wheat olive bread. I adore olive bread.I toast it and eat it with some butter. It reminds me of my childhood cause that is the way I would eat toast. With butter and olives. Mmm.

And my other friendly coworker Susan gave me a recipe for Minestrone soup. Can't wait to try it especially in this weather. Yum yum!

Happy Black History Month

Happy Ground Hogs Day

If you see women wearing red in the city and around the country it is for women's heart health.

Tax free shopping week in NYC is over. Pooh.

And I know that the Pope is quite old and has a multitude of health problems but I hope he gets better. I am silly that way.

Ahh here are some lovey frames(if I say so myself) on sale for valentine's day.

First I want to thank everyone who wished Niel well. He and I both appreciated your thoughfulness. It made us feel good. He is slowly getting better!

I received a meme from Shanny and I finally have a chance to respond! Thanks Shanny. I have to list 10 songs from my mp3 player. I don't have an mp3 player, so I'll just list some from my computer. This was difficult to choose. I love all types of music.

1. "Desert Rose" Sting
2. "Hey Mama" Black Eyed Peas
3. "Ms. Jackson" Outkast
4. "All I Want Is You" U2
5. "Sweet Home Alabama" Lynrd Skynrd
6. "Something So Strong" Crowded House
7. "Wide Open Spaces" Dixie Chicks
8. "Pictures of You" The Cure
9. "Mr. Brightside" The Killers
10. "Synthesizer" - Electric Six

The hubby and I currently share a computer and he has a heck of a lot more music than I do. I haven't found the time to get more. Most of the music we both like. So its good. The total amount from both of us is 382 albums, 419 artists, 87 genres, 91 songs. Although Niel believes we have more.

The last CD you bought is: I actually brought two new cd's. U2: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, and Gwen Stefani's debut album.

What is the song you last listened to before this message? "Fell Inlove with A Girl"by the White Stripes.

Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you. Oh lord this is a tough one. There are so many.

1. "Love Song" by The Cure.
2. "Winter Love" The Doors (My wedding song)
3. "Instant Karma" John Lennon
4. "Eleanor Rigby" The Beatles
5. "Maybe I'm Amazed" Paul McCartney

Who are you gonna pass this stick to (three persons and why)?
Kim cause I want to know besides Dave Matthews what she listens to, Irah and Tammy cause I am curious.

I found out neat info from this month's issue of Martha Stewart Living:

"Cacao Beans, from which chocolate is made, were once so valuable to the Nahua Indians of Mexico that their centers, called nibs, were used as money.

William Faulkner wrote his 1936 novel Absalom, Absalom! using a fountain pen, changing inks from blue to green to black at different points in the manuscript.

Pasta was not commonly eaten in the United States until the late nineteenth century, but Thomas Jefferson developed quite a liking for it while serving as an ambassador in Europe. In 1788, he sent his secretary to Naples purchase a macaroni machine.

Quilting became so popular in the 1920's that when the Depression hit, flour companies started packaging their goods in colorful patterned sacks. Thrifty quilters would use the flour, then incorporate the sack fabric into their crafts.

Demand for coffee increased sharply in the American colonies following the Boston Tea Party; at that point it was considered a patriotic gesture to choose coffee over tea.

Only 54% of Valentine's Day cards are delivered through the mail the rest are hand-delivered."

I updated my "Help in The Kitchen" section. I actually renamed it to "Help In The Home". Since the info I have can be used outside of the kitchen. All added material is at the end. I update that, along with my "In The Pot" and "Popcorn Bowl", "Ticket Stub", sections quite frequenlty. My "Headphones and "Workbag" sections a little often.
