When Paris and Scotland come to mind the unique foods one can only think of are snails and Haggis. However Andrew Zimmern host of the Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods proves there are a whole lot more strange cuisine available in Paris, Scotland and the entire world.

Zimmern finds and enjoys Seaweed Paste in Wales and Bulls testicles in Spain. Concept is similar as the food/travel shows of Anthony Bourdain and Zane Lamprey. Really or any of the food/travel shows on the Food Network and Travel Channel. But Zimmern has much more gusto about the bizarre foods he encounters.

Two of my favorite activities is to try new foods and travel. Although that is not a constant reality for me. I get my fill by watching food and travel shows. My two faves were combined into one when I finally watched Feasting on Asphalt. Chef Alton Brown and friends, ride around America on motorcycles tasting the various dishes the U.S. is known for.
Another good show is Have Fork Will Travel. The host, Zane Lamprey (who reminds me of the host on While You Were Out Evan Farmer)visits places all over the world. Both shows as well as others have been inspired by Anthony Bourdain, of course with distinct styles of their own. I heard Gwyneth Paltrow and chef Mario Batali are going to be cohosting a food and travel show as well about Spain, but I still haven't warmed up to the idea yet of watching it.

I must admit to something I used to watch A Cook's Tour when it was on the Food Network. It was hosted by Anthony Bourdain. I'm admitting to this because I don't like Anthony Bourdain much. Find him obnoxious. But it was interesting watching the show. I think he has a neat job. Getting to visit different countries and try "exotic" cuisine. It was a unique show and the Food Network really doesn't have shows where they focus on traveling and trying foods from different countries anymore. So I was happy to see that the Travel Network had hired Anthony Bourdain, to host a very similar show to A Cook's Tour. The new show is called No Reservations. I was surprised to find out the show is in it's third season. How come I hadn't heard of it till now. Where had I been? Anyway if you liked Anthony Bourdain's old show watch this one. The third season airs Monday night.
