Well I guess the theme of Diner food isn't as popular as I hoped. Cause I've only received five entries! But thank to everyone who participated!

Sara from I like to Cook and the mastermind behind Weekend Cookbook Challenge submitted a lovely, gooey stuffed burger.

Michelle from JeMangelaville's entry was a very delicious looking waffle recipe. Yum gingerbread! Just perfect for the holidays.

Judy from Judy's Gross Eats submitted a deluxe grilled cheese sandwich. Mmm melted cheese.

I managed to sneak in a last minute recipe(again) of a Gyro platter.

Cynthia from Cynthia's Kitchen made one of my hubby's favorite sandwiches a Reuben. Tasty!

Today is the last day if you wish to submit for Weekend Cook Book Challenge. Theme Diner Food. Thanks!

Nine times out of ten any time I eat at a diner I end up ordering the Gyro platter.

I love lamb. And the combo with potatoes always hits the spot. So I knew that was what I would make for my submission for this month's Weekend Cookbook Challenge, created by Sara and hosted this month by me!

I used Alton Brown's recipe because without fail Alton knows food.

Recently I got the opportunity to try some food from The Crab Place. A Maryland based seafood company. However they are primarily known for their crabs.

I got to sample their crab cakes, marinara sauce with fresh crab meat, tomato corn salsa with fresh crab meat, tartar and cocktail sauces.

I thought it was pretty inventive to add crab meat to marinara and salsa. It gives it a nice tang. I would definitely serve the salsa at parties and as an appetizer.

The crab cakes make a great burger also. Flavorful and moist.

Though I am used to eating seafood and pasta in a cream base; the crab in the marinara sauce was pretty tasty.

I would recommend ordering from The Crab Place especially since the holidays are around the corner. Perhaps a nice crab cake to serve as an appetizer on Thanksgiving. And definitely any of their seafood products for Christmas Eve dinner.

I read in my local metro an article about potato chips from around the world. I couldn't find the article online but I was able to find other article about the variety of potato chip flavors available.

A few that stood out to me were. A lamb flavored potato chip is available in Argentina. A New Zealand potato chip offers a salmon and caper chip. And a Kimchee flavored chip is available in Japan.

It's that time of the year again when I begin to think of what cookies I will bake for my office's cookie exchange; as well as the cookies I give out during Christmas.

To help me in my quest in determining what recipes to use I came across an article in Gourmet Magazine on the best cookies from the 1940's to present.

The article had a lot of interesting cookies I had never heard of and some standard ones as well.

Although the new law in New York about restaurants having to post the calories of meals has been in effect for sometime now can I just say I hate it.

Just because the calories are posted doesn't mean I am going to go for the frozen yogurt instead of the whole milk ice cream.
Or have a salad instead of a steak. I am going to order what I am in the mood for. Some times it will be salad other times perhaps fried mac and cheese balls.

Quinoa seems to be getting popular. Though I never thought it was unpopular.

Although I have heard about it some time ago I only tasted it a few months ago when a chef friend had prepared red Quinoa in a Tabbouleh salad. It was quite delicious.

I only recently tried to recreate the recipe now but with white. I couldn't find the red. It really smells during cooking but was very tasty in the salad.

Then I saw Quinoa mentioned in a Archer Farms friend's post as well as Archer FarmsNot Martha's.

I really do love Target. Another reason I do so even more now is their desserts. Target has their own brand of food Archer Farms which I have known about for some time now. But I didn't know that they also have desserts. Look at all the variety! Sorry for the blurry pics.

A Buffalo woman was so moved by who our 44th president is going to be that she made cupcakes in his image. A sweet win indeed.

I love diner food. I would so love to be Guy Fieri and travel across the country and sample different meals for free. But alas I haven't been asked to do my own show.

The sweet Sara from I Like To Cook has OK'd my offer to host this month's Weekend Cook Book Challenge and my theme is Diner Food. You can choose any meal you like at a favorite diner or you had once and want to replicate. You can find recipes on the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives site also. Please submit your recipes/posts to me by November 24.

I am so glad today is election day. Partly because all the coverage will be over. This time in our history has been very exciting but also exhausting. Yet there are some folks who may not vote today. Corporations want to "help" to convince you to vote. So much so that they are giving away free coffee, ice cream, food and ahem sex toys!
