I could not taste the difference between the two cheeses. Neufchatel tastes exactly like Cream Cheese. Apparently Neufchatel Cheese is Cream Cheese's French cousin. It has less fat but the same amount of sugar and carbs. I was surprised it had less the fat but still tasted great. Usually when something is less in fat it has more sugar in it to give it more of an appealing flavor. I will definitely use this alternative to Cream Cheese again.

That's the only kind I ever buy!
I've always used them interchangably in baking but I like to use the soft cream cheese on crackers and things.
Man I love cheese but now I feel silly that I only found about it now.
They were both pretty soft.
I hear ya!!!
I was impressed. I love it.
Another yummy cheese is "Laughing Cow" cheese -- it's pretty low fat, but tastes scrumptious on crackers!
And, um, it's not in the cream cheese family! :)
I like both too Enid Yvett. And cheese! Ahh a person after my own heart. Alas no Wegman's in NYC only upstate:( I'll have to find one in the D.C. area. Whole Foods is pretty good. They have lovely cheeses and olives.
I'll have to look for that one Leslie. Thanks.
Hmm, I'll have to try it!
Hope you enjoy it!
I always wondered what the difference was, thanks.
Tast wise it doesn't seem to be any. I haven't checked closely to the ingredients to see how they had 1/3 less fat. Good question.
By "soft cream cheese", I meant the spreadable kind that comes in tubs, not the more solid kind that comes in a brick.
Ahhh gotchya.
Hope you like it also.
I only buy this kind of cream cheese! It's great and like 1/3 of the fat as regular. mmmmm
I used it last night in a fondue.
