I found Tomatillos at a supermarket on the way home. I had first seen them at a supermarket not too far from my neighborhood and now even my local supermarket carry's them. I found them a little cheaper at the supermarket on the way home and purchased them. I first heard about Tomatillos when watching Rick Bayless's cooking show on our local public television station and had been curious to try them. Tomatillos come in a husk but when you open them up they appear to be green tomatoes. And do not make the mistake that they are. I used the Tomatillos in a recipe for a Mexican lasagna. I ate the lasagna too quickly to post a pic. The Tomatillos added a nice tangy flavor to the meal. The rest of the ingredients were pepper jack, cilantro, precooked chicken, Parmesan cheese(although Montego cheese is a good alternative), and flour tortillas. Now I am on the lookout for more recipes to use this green jewel in.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

Hey! I just finished posting and I posted a recipe on there too! We're on the same wavelength.
I grew up eating tomatillos in soooooo many things. Really, it was a vegetable staple we always had at home. I'll bug my mom and grandma and send you some recipes!

Wow I didn't know they were actually eaten. I thought they grew them for the Tomatillo festival so people had something to throw hehe.

Nope they are eaten.

That Mexican lasagna sounds divine! How long does it bake for?

Ooopsie about 30 to 40 minutes. Until the cheese gets melty. I usually like to say where I got the recipe from but I forgot this time since there was nothing on the website. So I had to recreate it from memory. I got the recipe from the Daisy Martinez show on PBS.
