I'm am really enjoying a new show on TLC called Little People Big World. At first it was just a one hour special about the Roloff Family but then TLC picked it up to be a series. The parents Amy and Matt are both little people. They were born with different types of Dwarfism. However they have not let that deter them and they don't feel badly about it. They feel like it was just the cards they were dealt. The Roloffs have a successful farm in Oregon where they sell peaches and pumpkins, Amy also holds two jobs as a soccer coach(you read right) and as a preschool teacher, Matt works in the technology market, has written a book, done amazing things on his farm and gives lectures about being a little person. Niel just reminded me Matt also played a Ewok in one of George Lucas's films. Matt and Amy have four children, twin sons Jeremy and Zach, a daughter Molly and another son Jacob. One twin Jeremy is average height and Zach the other twin is a little person. Zach has the same Dwarfism as his mother. The Roloffs are such a nice family. After a while you don't even notice that Zach or his parents are not average height. You just see them as people. I hope the show comes back in the Fall. If you are interested in viewing it the show airs Saturday nights, on TLC at 8PM. Currently in reruns but it will be new to you as Niel likes to say.

I watch it from time to time. I felt *horrible* for that one son who was *so* sick and had to have surgery. God, that was awful! Poor guy!

I feel like the show exploits the family a bit. I havent seen many of the episodes, but the portions I've seen almost seem comical. I guess it does some good by showing that little people can be successful, but at the same time, it pokes a bit of fun. One of the episodes I saw was where one of the kids was playing football. I think it was the kid on the lower left in the green. The kids got some moves :-).

Yeah I feel like they try to make them dothings that are a little demeaning at times.

Yeah, the one son was playing American football a few weeks ago. He was dodging tackles left and right. He was playing against other little people. I think they were at a convention or something.

I watched the first show-the hour one before the series I guess. I haven't seen it since it has become a series though.

Lisanne-Zack right? Yes some people with Dwarfism unfortunetly have to have surgery. So glad he was ok.

Mike-Really you feel like they are exploited? I thought the show did a good job of showing there are different types of people. Football? I thought they only played soccer? Wait are you referring to soccer by its European/South American name? All the kid play soccer. They are pretty good. Yeah they show zach playing a few times. I think their daughter switched to volleyball though.

Niel-oh that is right honey. Thank you for the reminder!

Mike-really? Deaming? Maybe I haven't seen those episodes? Like what? I thought the stuff they did was for themselves like farm work, school and such. Oh yes he was playing football at the convention. I totally forgot. The shorter friend of Zach's was really good!

Jess: No I haven't heard anything about Nigella's new show:(

Jessica: Did you like it?

I was reading an interview on TLC and the dad and son said TLC likes to edit the show to make it seem controversial at times because they are so boring. Their words. I think the dad's personality is so different than Zach's. He's more of a go getter and I think because Zach is little like him he wants him to feel he understand its rough or he could just be a regular dad telling his song go get them. You know?
