I have been missing my relatives lately, especially my grandma and Horak (my dad's sister). They live in California but it may well as be Armenia. Which is where my family is from and where I was born. If you don't already know.

I have been reading on various blogs about people being able to spend time with grandparents and various extended family members and I long for that. I do speak with my grandmother and other relatives frequently, but its not the same.

I don't know if it has to do with a deeper connection to ones ancestral homeland. But outside of my culture and most non too assimilated families, I have not seen that affinity to have frequent get togethers with family.

I miss the days of dinners with my extended family and seeing my cousins. Of hanging out and watching a movie or going to the mall. Of getting underneath feet in the kitchen. I don't know if that will be in my future anytime soon.

Hopefully I'll be able to visit with my parents this weekend. Haven't seen them since the beginning of January. With the storm, Niel's back, my dad's back, and my mom having the flu it's been impossible to visit until now.

What a great photo, Ani.

I know how hard it is to be away from family like that -- I've always felt that I missed out a bit on my family in Hawaii. :( But I'm glad that A and H have both sets of grandparents close by.

Perhaps you'll have to come out to Cali to see them? And then see us too? :)
