Some fun facts about October:

Some say if you catch the first leaf falling you see this season, you won't catch any winter colds.

Traditionally oysters are eaten seasonally, during the months that include the letter. This helps oyster by not disturbing them during their summer mating period.

Horse races were the highlight of the first Oktoberfest held in Munich to honor trhe 1810 marriage of King Ludwig I. Now the day is celebrated worldwide with a feast of sausages and beer.

Everyone associates bats with Halloween, but by October 31, most bats have disappeared into caves to hibernate for the winter.

In China, pumpkins are the royalty of the garden because they are believed to bring good luck.
