The 2006 Winter Olympics didn't get high ratings in the US this year. I don't know why. I like the idea of the entire world coming together and putting their differences aside for some friendly competition. I like the views of the different states and countries. The stories behind the towns and athletes. The media sure didn't help with all the negative attention it gave. Sometimes you win a gold and sometimes you don't. I think it is neat just to be able to go and compete. The US released special commemorative stamps for the Olympics. Italy has some cool Olympic stamps as well.

I wonder how the ratings were in Europe where they saw everyting live.

To me there were only three exciting events - Curling, Snowboard Cross and Speed Skating.

Probably higher.
Besides the personal stories I liked the ice skating.

I watched some of it almost every night. I enjoyed it all and I really liked watching the ice skating except some of the comments that were made were getting to me.

YOu have a point there Niel. If you watched CNN or Foxnews, or visited their websites, it was very hard not to find out the results of the events ahead of time. Most people probably knew the results before they aired during prime time. KInd of takes the drama out of it. I found the alpine skiing, luge, bobseled and speed skating to be very exciting. I liked the snowboard cross as well. I thought the "extreme" events like aerials and the half pipe were kind of lame.

Yeah Jessica some of the comments were mean. They are usually like that.

Yes the athletes must love their sport to go through all the training etc. Good luck with work and the cast.
