Various thoughts in my head today. Tori Amos was going to be signing her new book yesterday at the Barnes and Noble on Union Square. When I got there the line was closed and the room was packed. Security everywhere and not just her personal team of body guards, but NYC police also. I decided it just was not worth it if I couldn't even see Tori. So I picked up Niel at his office, we got some Jamba Juice (great idea Niel), and headed home where I fell asleep by 9PM.

I've heard sometime now that there are these studies and books saying that girls and boys learn differently in the classroom and altogether (duh). Little boys can't hear as well and their coordination is not as advanced but they are better at math & science. While little girls are better at English. And educators are hoping with these new findings they will be able to help teach children better.

And in some schools across the country teachers are given devices where their voices can be heard by all students and not just the ones in the front of the classroom. Sort of like mics for the classroom. Educators are claiming that the some of the children they thought were just trouble makers or had ADD, just could not hear very well.

Made Birds in a Nest for breakfast this morning. I based it on some recipes I saw on 30 Minute Meals and Paula's Home Cooking. I took some bread (you can use any kind you like), made a hole between the bread, put it in a frying pan with a little bit of butter, toasted it on both sides, and dropped one egg in each bread. While that was cooking I also fried up some bacon (use any kind you like). Then flipped the egg/bread combo on the other side and let that cook till the egg was done on both sides. I melted some cheese on top (use any combo you like) and then served it with the bacon on top. We really enjoyed it.

I first saw TorI Amos at a small concert hall in England in spring 1992. I had a severe girly-crush on her and played that Little Earthquakes CD all the time until my boyfriend threw it in the trash bin.
