Growing up in my household we loved munching on popcorn. My mom would put a bit of olive oil in a pot and sprinkle in some kernels and a few minutes later mountains of tasty goodness. When I went to school I heard about microwave popcorn. Tasty also but not as fun. Just more convenient. But a bit too pricy for my family. And then I heard about Jiffy Pop. Something similar to what my family did but with a twist. Niel
and I recently got to try it after I saw it on sale at Target for a $1.00. Pictures here.

My family didn't do jiffypop. We did the oil, and the corn in a pop deal which I still think is pretty cool to this day. Only to be matched by the air popcorn popper of old.

Yeah growing up we did the oil and kernel. With me and Niel we've tried all the ones mentioned but the air. Hmm. How does that work?

I haven't made popcorn like that in years....decades even! I'm a popcorn freak -- I sometimes eat it as a meal! :)

I also different flavored popcorn. Cheese is my favorite. Ofcourse.

Cheese popcorn just seems wrong. Popcorn should only be with butter or salt or both. Everything else is just not popcorn but something else.

It's tasty to me. And its called popcorn so its popcorn to me.

I have to find one of those air poppers. I am such a gadget feind. Ok kitchen gadgets really.
Cool the same oven:)

I love this post because it brought back a childhood memory of popping corn with my mom and dad. We even did Jiffy Pop a few time, too. Eventually we did move onto microwave popcorn, but nothing beats doing it yourself.

I caould never get Jiffy pop to work for me. ALWAYS I burnt it! I now have a nifty popper that you use just a bit of oil in and it is sort of cooked on a circular teflon grill stirred with a metal rod and there is a big dome over it which you use as the bowl. You flip it over when cooked and the popcorn is there! I'm not descibing it very well :)
