I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Niel and I did our usual errand running, and cleaning. Niel decided we should reorganize our closet. It was brilliant really because the boxes I had purchased when we got married were too bulky and so we purchased smaller boxes and everything fit! It was nice to get that out of the way.
We also had a crappy weather. A Noreaster hit our area. It's basically a wimpy hurricane. So we didn't get to do the Halloweeny stuff this weekend. But Niel had another good idea for us to go to the beach. We of course didn't go to sunbathe but just to walk around and enjoy the break we got from the rain and to see how a storm affects the beach. It was still windy and chilly but we had on jackets. We spent an hour or two just walking around. It was amazing.
Sunday we went to my parents and stuffed outselves. My mom made a really good dinner:roast chicken with little red potatoes, mini meatloafs and whole wheat past with cream and parmesan, peas, carrots and shitakes with dill, salad, awesome hummus and flan.
Did anyone know that Meg Tilly has a child with Colin Firth? And that she is Canadian. Why do you ask I know this? I was contemplating watching either Return to Halloween Town on the Disney Channel or The Iniation of Sarah on the ABC Family. Jennifer starts in The Iniation of Sarah. I opted for the first movie, less scary. Did you know Jennifer is 48! She looks fantastic. Then I started to wonder what happend to Meg Tilly since Jennifer still works? That is how I know about Meg's son with Colin Firth. Anyway Meg retired back to Canada and now is an author.

Rachael Ray is set to open her own bbq joint in NYC.

And why do Tomkat have to share an anniversary with Niel and I? Blech.

We were watched some taped shows and saw that Amy Sedaris made a guest appearnce on My Name is Earl. She was really good. I'm curious about her latest book.
And why isn't anyone watching Studio 60? It's a really good show. So much better than that 30 Rock crap.

It's the Halloween edition of Bloggy Parade of Homes brought to us by Shannon!! Yaaay! I love Halloween its my favorite holiday. Well at least tied with Christmas.
I have a lot of Halloween stuff so I try to alternate the decorations each year. I also buy one or two pieces each year because there are so many cute things. I've learned to get them on sale thuogh. Niel and I also have a Halloween gift giving with the Squilky's each year. We look forward to those. This year Niel decided to decorate the apartment for Fall also. But instead of Halloween or Fall items he decided to go with the baseball route and put up Met items. If you want to see pics of Halloween past click here, here,, here, and here.

Niel put a few of his baseball caps on various plants we have

I really am into white pumpkins and decorations this year

I recently discovered Luna Bars. It is an energy/protein bar for women. Where have I been? I don't try new foods/products as much as I thought I do. My coworker Elaine brought some in. The block where my office is located new products are always being given out. I tried the Luna Sunrise Blueberry. It is really good and good for you. It also comes in a lot of other neat flavors.

I never thought I would enjoy stamps as much as I do now. I am having way too much fun at the USPS website.

I am making a list of all the stamps Niel and I would both like:

If I do end up in hell I know it will definitely be for gluttony or at least stupidity. You would think I would lay off at least for a bit on all the starch I was consuming. Starchy products are one of the food categories that get my stomach in a tizzy. If I mix starch and cheese at all, forget about it. It's like cement to my stomach.

Anyway on Sunday after work Niel picks me and his mom up from the city. I took a train up to meet Niel and my mother in-law at Grand Central. She was returning from a candle buying excursion in Massachusetts with her sisters. We drive to her neighborhood and eat a new diner that opened up. The diner only serves Hispanic food. Can you hear the angels singing? Because the foods at this diner would make them sing. I love Hispanic food. Niel and I are lucky that we both enjoy the foods from each other's cultures. My favorites are rice and beans, Pernil skin (roast pork) and Mofongo(plantains cooked and crushed with garlic and bits of pork).

This diner made the most freshest Mofongo I have ever tasted. It was buttery and flavorful.

But between eating that and the rice and beans on Sunday, the last few days have been miserable for my belly. :(

What the dooce? As Stewie Griffith says. The weather has been wacko. Last weekend it was warm and I even wore sandals to work one day during the week. Then Friday and this weekend it was freezing! Friday evening there was a lot of wind and I regretted wearing a denim jacket as my outer covering.

Work has been nutty but what else is new. The locks on our bathroom keys were changed after some transvestite was in one of the ladies room. Which honestly I don't know what the big whoop was about. Plus I lost all of my other keys and had to replace them.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Maybe I can live vicariously through some of your stories? I worked this past Sunday because a few of my clients were at a fair my employer was hosting. So Friday and Saturday we took it easy which Niel loves. But taking it easy didn't mean there wasn't any laundry or errand running or cleaning to be done. Friday after Niel returned from scouts we watched television and enjoyed some Papa Johns. Mmmm fake pizza. Tasty. Heh heh. Yeah I know its the only pizza that most of the country knows and I did fall for their sausage special.

On of our errands I was getting cold cuts. The butcher was offering slices of olive loaf and I said yes. The gluten that I am I got a stomach ache from the one slice. LOL! I did see people being nice to one another all weekend. I like to see that. It makes me smile.

Pam's character is so nice to Michael's character on The Office. I love Thursdays.

I've been seeing a lot of British actresses on American television. Dawn from The British Office is on Studio 60(Why isn't anyone watching this. The show rocks!) and on Ugly Betty. Ashley from the Ricky Gervais show Extras is also on Ugly Betty. And Susan from British Coupling was on the NBC show Teachers.

One of our visits to New Jersey recently Niel spotted a beer distributor. Since he's on his quest to drink 100 different beers this year he likes to visit different distributors. This was the fanciest distributor either of us have been too. They had a wine section and a cheese section to go with the wine. Makes sense. They sold fancy crackers and bottle openers and nice glasses. They were giving out samples of cheese. It was neat. I also got lucky because I spotted the Barefoot Contessa's brownie mix. I had no idea she even had a line of mixes. I don't have a problem trying mixes. It was a pretty penny but really tasty.

Niel and I have been trying new dumpling places recently. No special reason. They just caught our eye. One is on the way to work. The other is near Niel's office and the last I read about. We only really liked one out of the three places. The one by Niel's office. They make an interesting sandwich. The bread is scallion pancake and its stuffed with marinated pork. Really good! So below are some pics of our dumpling adventures. Heh heh.

Dumplings from the Dumpling Cafe. They were too cabbagy.

Dumplings from the Dumpling Man. It was such a cute store with a cute logo and multicolored dumplings. But we couldn't tell the dumplings apart. The pumpkin dessert dumpling smelled better then it tasted. Such a shame. It had such potential.

Vanessas Dumplings. The best out of the three.
