I have to admit something. I cannot cook rice. Which is too bad because I love rice. Rice pilaf, Fried Rice, Jasmin rice, and White rice. Mmmm starchy. Sure I do well with the rice that comes in a box. And sometims I even mess that up. But I cannot make rice from scratch. I know its one cup of rice to two cups of water. I even tried one cup of rice to one and a half cups of water. But the rice never fully cooks through. It is something that really bugs me.

I was considering that. I just might have to. I just wanted to do it like my mom and make it just using a pot. Thanks.

Thanks Dave. I'll keep that in mind.

What's wrong with using Minute rice or Uncle Bens? Does the rice really taste much different if you do it in a rice cooker?

There is nothing wrong with it. I've used those types of companies. I just like making things from scratch sometimes like fried rice or Jasmin rice. But I've messed the box ones up sometimes too.

1 cup white rice
2 cups water

Put together in pan and turn on high heat. When boiling, turn down to low, put lid on pot, and set timer to 14 minutes.

Works for me every time!
